Scale Release After Installing PolyHalt®
Overview
Homes that have had untreated hard water for a long period often develop mineral scale inside their plumbing. When a PolyHalt® salt-free softening system is installed, this existing scale begins to break down and release.
As the scale loosens, small flakes or particles can collect in faucet aerators, leading to reduced or uneven water flow. This is a normal and temporary part of the descaling process.
How to Fix
Remove the faucet aerator (the small screen at the tip of the faucet).
Rinse and clean the screen to remove any debris or scale particles.
Reinstall the aerator and run water to confirm normal flow.
This process may need to be repeated a few times over the first few months after installation, depending on how much scale was present in the plumbing.
Pro Tip
After the initial descaling period, scale release will stop, and no further buildup will occur with continued PolyHalt® treatment.
